PUCO Accepts Results of January 2017 FEOU CBP Auction - Wednesday, February 1, 2017
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has accepted the results of the latest wholesale auction held January 31, 2017 using a competitive bidding process (CBP) to procure standard service offer (SSO) supply for SSO customers of the FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities (FEOU). The results from the auction, combined with results from other previous and/or scheduled CBP auctions to procure FEOU’s SSO supply, will be used to determine retail generation service rates for the delivery period June 1, 2016 through May 31, 2024.The PUCO's news release can be viewed here
Announcement Regarding Tranche Size for January 2017 CBP Auction - Thursday, January 12, 2017
Pursuant to the Bidding Rules, no later than four (4) days prior to the Part 2 Application Due Date, the Auction Manager announces any update to the MW-measure of the tranches in the auction. There is no change in the MW-measure of the tranches in the auction scheduled for January 2017 from the announcement made on December 7 2016. Thus, based on historical data, the energy obligation is approximately 106 MW per tranche, and the capacity obligation is approximately 104 MW per tranche. These values are provided for reference purposes only. The minimum and maximum starting prices for the product in the CBP auction scheduled for January 2017 are $70.00/MWh and $95.00/MWh, respectively. Prior to the auction, the actual starting price for the product will be disclosed to bidders. The starting price is expected to fall within the range of $70.00/MWh and $95.00/MWh.

    First Two ESP-IV Auctions Scheduled for April 13 and April 26, 2016 - Friday, March 11, 2016
    FirstEnergy Utilities of Ohio are beginning the Competitive Bidding Process (CBP) to procure full-requirements electric generation service for their Standard Service Offer (SSO) customers for the delivery period June 2016 through May 2024. The first two auctions are scheduled for April 13 and April 26, 2016. The CBP timeline and relevant documentation are subject to change pending the approval of FEOU’s Electric Security Plan (ESP-IV) by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (“Commission”).     FEOU Conducting Collaborative Meeting on CBP with Suppliers and Other Interested Stakeholders - Friday, March 21, 2014
    The FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities are conducting a collaborative meeting with Suppliers and other interested stakeholders to discuss the competitive bid process used to procure generation supply for the standard service offer. The meeting will take place on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 1:30 PM and will be held at our offices at 76 South Main Street, in Akron Ohio.     The FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities do not currently intend to make a formal presentation.     The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today accepted the results of the latest wholesale auction held October 23, 2012 using a competitive bidding process (CBP) to procure standard service offer (SSO) supply for SSO customers of the FirstEnergy Ohio Utilities (FEOU). The results from the auction, combined with results from other previous and/or scheduled CBP auctions to procure FEOU’s SSO supply, will be used to determine retail generation service rates for the delivery period June 1, 2013 through May 31, 2016.     Announcement of Auction Format Change - Tuesday, September 27, 2011
    Pursuant to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s September 7, 2011 Entry for Case No. 10-1284, the four remaining auctions under the ESP scheduled for October 2011, January 2012, October 2012, and January 2013 will use a two-phase auction format. The auction format will include a multi-round descending-price clock format (phase one) possibly followed by a sealed-bid round (phase two). Bidders that bid at least one tranche in the penultimate round of the clock phase and then decreased their bid quantity in the final round of the clock phase will submit a bid in the sealed-bid round.     In response to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio’s May 13 Entry on Rehearing in the Electric Security Plan (ESP), which calls for an evidentiary hearing on June 17, 2010, FirstEnergy Corp.’s Ohio utility companies need to modify the previously announced competitive bidding process (CBP) schedule. As a result, Part 2 Applications will be postponed from the current deadline of June 15, 2010, and the auction will be rescheduled from its current date of July 13, 2010. Additional information, including a revised schedule, will be posted on the auction Information Website and distributed via email as soon as it becomes available.
